Banburyshire Events

Introduction
Throughout 2007, Banburyshire Media covered a number of events, in and around Banbury.
Banburyshire Events was the resulting multi-media product from Banburyshire Media to promote, and support, the music and heritage events in and around the town of Banbury.
It was a co-ordinated approach to let people know what was coming up, produce coverage of the event, and provide a customised two disc CD and CDROM set, called "Banburyshire Events", which could be ordered on the day, as a momento of the event.
As part of our support for these events, the organisers receive half of the monies raised from sales.
The calendar, below, gives you some idea of the range of events which take place in the area, and contains contact details, where possible, so you can find out about this year's occasion.

April 28 2007	Adderbury Day Of Dance Adderbury Village Morris Men Adderbury Morris Men "The current revival dates back to 1974 when a reformed Adderbury side, put together by the combining forces of Bryan Sheppard (an Adderbury resident born and bred) and Tim Radford. This is now known as “The Adderbury Day of Dance”. It is a day long festival when the two Morris sides of Adderbury dance around the village and again in the evening when they are often joined by other guest sides. May 01 2007	May Day "The Town Mayor of Banbury, Councillor John Donaldson says 'Please join me and my guests at the Town Hall at 10am – bring along a posy of spring flowers – and be part of this colourful procession to the Fine Lady Statue'. St. Mary’s bells will ring out from 10.30am until 11.00am as the procession winds its way back to the bandstand in the High Street acknowledging The Woolpack in the High Street, Café 6 in Church Lane, Ye Olde Reindeer Inn and Help the Aged shop in Parsons Street and Morris Pasties in the Market Square, all of which are offering meal deals on the day or decorating their windows."

June 17 2007	The VMCC Banbury Run VMCC Banbury Run "The Banbury Run is a Vintage Motor Cycle Club members only event for motor cycles and three wheelers manufactured before 31st December 1930 and takes place every June, usually on Fathers Day." June 23 2007	Jazz In The Park - Great Tew Jazz In The Park "Jazz in the Park is a charity event managed by a committee of local peoples, which aims to raise funds along with bringing the community together for a celebration of music and the British Summer."
June 23-24 2007	Bloxham Steam Rally * Banbury Steam Society "Bloxham Vintage Vehicle Rally and Country Fayre. Our annual rally is widely regarded as one of the largest and best in the country, with over 700 exhibits and 10,000 visitors in 2006."

July 07-08 2007	Banbury Hobby Horse Festival Banbury Hobby Horse Festival "For centuries hobby horses, Jack in the Greens, straw men and other similar characters brought life and colour to civic processions in towns and cities across the country. At the beginning of the new millennium it was decided that the time had come to reinstate these traditions; bring fun and splendour back into the life of the town." July 08 2007	Banbury Town Mayor's Sunday Banbury Mayoral Events Parade from the Town Hall to People’s Park of visiting Beasts, local pageant animals, morris dancers and Banbury’s Fine Lady on a White Horse, followed by a family fun-afternoon for all. FREE ADMISSION
July 14 2007	Adderbury Party In The Park One day music festival with : "The Blue Meanies, Leatherat, the wRants, and a bunch of other Adderbury-based musicians and bands. The event, as always, will be raising funds for Adderbury's Katherine House Hospice."
